Dr. Wycoff’s philosophy: A client can’t change and grow before he or she feels understood. The better a therapist listens and fully understands what a client is feeling and why, the more the client will be open to change. Feelings need to be fully expressed and accepted by both the client and therapist before a client can move forward to form new, healthier thought patterns and behaviors that bring fulfillment, happiness and peace.

Dr. Wycoff received her Ph.D. from Alliant University in San Diego, CA.

She performed a post-graduate internship at Alvarado Parkway Institute, an inpatient psychiatric treatment facility.

Dr. Wycoff is licensed as a Psychologist in California and Colorado.

I Love My Job!

In 25 years of practicing psychotherapy I have never experienced the dramatic improvement in depression that I’ve seen since we started providing TMS. TMS has completely changed my career and our practice. Everyone in our office–Dr. Hubbard, Riz Khan, and our entire staff is grateful for the day-to-day opportunity of seeing our patients “wake up” out of depression and engage with life again! It is the most rewarding experience of my life. We all enjoy coming to work!

I have the privilege of conducting all initial TMS consults, providing in-person support to patients as they complete TMS treatments, and conducting exit interviews after the patient finishes TMS.  On a daily basis I witness striking and lasting improvement in people seeking relief from depression, anxiety, PTSD and a reduction in ADHD symptoms.

Patients are understandably skeptical when they start TMS, as it is not a drug, and treatments are a mild, even pleasant experience. We take special care to make sure each patient feels supported and knows what to expect as their treatment progresses. During treatment, they watch a favorite TV show while their technician watches the monitor and chats with them as a friend who listens and cares. The technician also keeps Dr. Hubbard and I apprised of the patient’s progress. Treatments are non-invasive and require no sedation. Patients drive home after a 19 minute treatment with no side effects. We are frequently told by patients that coming to our office is like being with family. We feel that our caring relationship with our patients enhances their treatment effect.

Patients can schedule a confidential, in-person or virtual “check-in” with me at any time. During the “check-in” I listen, check their scores on 3 assessments they complete regularly (a measure of daily emotional functioning, a depression inventory and an anxiety inventory), and discuss their symptoms and progress. Dr. Hubbard and I look for an increase in their daily functioning and a decrease in depression and anxiety. Some patients will respond more quickly than others based on a variety of factors.

Given our thorough understanding of the TMS research and our experience of treating over 400 TMS patients, we can usually predict when a patient will begin to feel an improvement in depression and anxiety. Results are gradual but real. Please go to our testimonial page to see videos of patients who have completed TMS treatment.

Under the supervision of Dr. Hubbard, we may adjust their TMS treatment to address anxiety as needed. We monitor their progress and listen for any discomfort, changes in mood, or concerns.  We welcome the opportunity to coordinate care with the patient’s therapist and/or psychiatrist to make sure we are all in communication.

Therapy and medication have always been the go-to’s for patients with severe depression and anxiety. Both are highly effective interventions, and we require all TMS patients to be in psychotherapy during TMS treatment, as therapy increases the effect of TMS and helps the patient create new neural pathways. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is especially effective as a result of TMS treatment. Most already have a therapist when they come to our office. If they are seeking a therapist we provide a list of therapists who we frequently work with. TMS catapults their insight and results in therapy to a level I have never known was possible. And the results last. According to the TMS research, 90% of patients will retain their result for at least one year, many for much longer. Patients who have rarely (if ever) experienced contentment, calm, and the experience of waking up happy to greet the new day, are now able to experience this for the first time. I have the privilege of witnessing this transformation firsthand and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity.
