Dr. W: Tell me about your experience with TMS.
RM: All right I had tried for years and years more than half my life battling my depression and my anxiety and post-traumatic stress. Finally I found this treatment that I actually feel like I started responding immediately to it. It wasn’t like taking antidepressants that you don’t have to wait a month for them to kick in. This kicked for me and I found my anxiety level continually progressed downwards which makes me more functional in life. I’ve been able to get out of bed which was my favorite place to be prior.
Dr. W: We can laugh about that now.
RM: Yeah it wasn’t very funny then. But I couldn’t be more pleased with my results and and honestly I had a little a little anxiety about even doing it what if this doesn’t work either because I tried every therapy a million psychiatrists and psychologists and all the drugs and I was a little afraid if this doesn’t work I don’t know where you go from here but that fear went away really fast and I’m very thankful.
Dr. W: How soon was it before you started feeling a result?
RM: I have to say it had to be the first within the first couple weeks. I started calming down. That’s a big one living with all that anxiety and it you know clouds your decisions. I think within the first two weeks -.
Dr. W: You started feeling calmer.
RM: Yes.
Dr. W: And tell me about the depression did you notice it start to lift?
RM: Yeah I did that was more subtle though I mean the anxiety level was you know it was like right there in my face I could feel that and then it took a while to realize that the depression was leading me after a few challenges you know things that I knew prior to TMS would have completely freaked me out and then I’m going “whoa” you know “this isn’t putting me in as deep a hole”.
Dr. W: Yeah. So things would come your way challenges would come your way and you didn’t
RM: Exactly. I mean that’s the trick challenges are always going to come right and they come so you can see where you are you now. It’s a – it’s a test.
